Hi everyone,
Miss Mary Beth & Miss Joan are gearing up for summer reading! Want to see them kiss a python? Then vote for them by stuffing their ballot box with cash beginning June 1st. (all proceeds go to SHARE). Don't want them to "pucker up for a python?" then vote for Katie, the Teen Librarian or the Director, Michelle Sampson or last but not least, Joel, our go-to guy!

READ TO FEED at Wadleigh Memorial Library
We chose not to follow the New Hampshire state summer reading theme "Summer Time and the Reading is Easy" because we realize that for many children reading is not easy. Also, we know that children derive great satisfaction from helping others, but often don't know how and/or don't have the means - this summer we would like to help them with both.
For this year's summer theme "Read to Feed", rather than read for prizes as has been the practice in the past, the young people of Milford will be challenged to read for a need. Our goal is to collect (through fund-raising and donations only- not tax dollars) one penny per minute for the first 2009 hours of collective reading time, or $1,205.40. All the money will be donated to SHARE, our local food pantry, in a combination of dollars, food and personal care items. Twenty lucky readers who submit their completed reading log on or before August 26 will be entered into a raffle for a limo ride to shop for and deliver the goods to SHARE. L.A. Limousine of Wilton, New Hampshire has very generously offered to donate two stretch limousines for the occasion. Thank you L.A. Limousine!
The library is sponsoring several fund-raising events to support the young readers in their efforts to fill the shelves for SHARE. Sure to be the most popular, "Pucker up for a Python" will give the public the opportunity to vote with cash for the library lady or gentleman they would like to see kiss LUCA the 11 foot python. The puckering will take place at the library on Wednesday, July 15 at 2:45. Luca makes his home with "Reptiles on the Move" out of Concord, New Hampshire - thank you Marie, Director of "Reptiles on the Move", for your enthusiastic support of this event!
Stay tuned!!!
